Coach Mike graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Marketing in 1990. This is his 8th year at CdS as assistant swim coach, and he considers this his first coaching job. In college, he was a lifeguard for the City of Tempe and also coached the 13 year and older kids for 2 summers.
He is an agent/owner of a Farmers Insurance Agency in Tempe for 29 years. He started the agency 1 month after graduating from ASU, growing it to 1 CSR, 1 producer, and 2 marketers.
Coach Mike has been married for over 25 years to his wife, Kelly, a teacher in the Kyrene School District for 24 years and currently a 2nd grade teacher at Kyrene de las Brisas. They have 2 daughters; Kelsey, graduated from Corona in 2010 and U of A in 2014. She currently works as a Site Coordinator for Kid Zone through the Kyrene School District. Lindsey graduated from Corona in 2014 and attended ASU.
His family loves to camp and fish. Lindsey was a rodeo queen for 8 years and is a member of the Cowgirls Historical Foundation, so they spend a lot of time at Rodeos across the state. Coach Mike likes to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycles when the weather is nice. He recently adopted a lovable donkey, "Dave," who helps manage Mike's small residential farm in Gilbert. He is a member of the Mesa Aquatics Masters Swim Team and swims 6 days a week.
