Coach PROFILES

Head Coach

Ron Musgrave

Coach Ron graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology from Virginia Tech and a Masters in Education from Arizona State University. Coach Ron has over 20 years of coaching experience, including age group swim team, high school and adults in Masters swim program in Virginia. 


This is Coach Ron’s 10th year as the head coach for Corona. He also is a teacher at McClintock High School in the Special Education, Math, and PE Departments. He is an aquatics consultant to the U.S. Air Force and Navy as a Fitness & Aquatics Trainer for Special Ops recruits. Coach Ron and Georgia, his wife of 21 years, have 2 children, Scott (17) and Kimberly (15). His family also includes their 2 standard poodles, Ruby and Molly.  He enjoys activities that end in “ing”: boating, skiing, golfing, exercising and traveling.

Assistant Swim Coach

Mike Herrmann

Coach Mike graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Marketing in 1990. This is his 8th year at CdS as assistant swim coach, and he considers this his first coaching job. In college, he was a lifeguard for the City of Tempe and also coached the 13 year and older kids for 2 summers. 

He is an agent/owner of a Farmers Insurance Agency in Tempe for 29 years. He started the agency 1 month after graduating from ASU, growing it to 1 CSR, 1 producer, and 2 marketers.

Coach Mike has been married for over 25 years to his wife, Kelly, a teacher in the Kyrene School District for 24 years and currently a 2nd grade teacher at Kyrene de las Brisas. They have 2 daughters; Kelsey, graduated from Corona in 2010 and U of A in 2014. She currently works as a Site Coordinator for Kid Zone through the Kyrene School District. Lindsey graduated from Corona in 2014 and attended ASU.   

His family loves to camp and fish. Lindsey was a rodeo queen for 8 years and is a member of the Cowgirls Historical Foundation, so they spend a lot of time at Rodeos across the state. Coach Mike likes to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycles when the weather is nice. He recently adopted a lovable donkey, "Dave," who helps manage Mike's small residential farm in Gilbert. He is a member of the Mesa Aquatics Masters Swim Team and swims 6 days a week. 

Assistant Swim Coach

Mark Burnside

Coach Mark joined the CdS swim team during the 2016 season as a part-time assistant coach. He swam competitively in his youth and through part of high school, although his primary focus was football, lacrosse and tennis. He continued recreational swimming, periodically at the master’s level. More recently he swims daily as part of his regular triathlon training regimen. He served as a USSA certified official when his daughters swam club. Coach Mark said, “I'm happy to be helping out on deck at Corona, giving back to a great sport!”

Dive Coach

Kacee Hoffer

Kacee has been an athlete all her life, from youth to collegiate sports. She attended Boise State University on scholarship to compete on the Swim and Dive Team while working towards her B.S. in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. During her three years, she received numerous academic and athletic recognition from Boise State University, the Mountain West and the NCAA.

In 2019, she completed an M.S. in Health Promotion from Arizona State University. Kacee is the Owner and Club Director of South Mountain Dive Club, a year-round dive team at Nozomi Aquatics Center. Her mission for her athletes is to be safe while having a love of exercise and healthy competition.

Assistant Dive Coach

David Hoffer

David was a multi-sport athlete including swimming, gymnastics, and wrestling before he found his passion in the sport of diving. Starting his freshman year of high school, he worked hard to earn a scholarship to dive for Arizona State University. In his five years on the Sun Devil team, he received multiple All-American Honorable Mentions, Pac-12 honors, Pac-12 All-Academic and the Ward O’Connor Most Valuable Men’s Diver Award.

David recently completed his own diving career. He competed in the 3-meter Men’s Individual Competition at the USA Diving Olympic Team Trials in 2021 against the best in the country.
